We turned our passion for hunting for antiques and collectibles into a fundraiser for our ACSLV68 scholarship program.
Origin Story / Overview
Introduce yourself.
I am Jenny Paradies, 4th gen from the Vidal line. I always loved going to antique fairs and flea markets. But at our stage in life, I really didn’t need any more stuff! My partner, Madlen Faustmaan and I decided, why don’t we try a popup in Manila. Birds in Paradise was born! For the first event we asked 2 others to join us - my sister Elsie and an old schoolmate, Isabel. Needless to say it was a roaring success. I think we sold almost everything! But it was exhausting. So we approached our Assumption school mates, who had a mission of educating deserving youths who could not afford school. And we presented the idea of turning Birds in Paradise into a fundraiser for these scholars. We would take care of the shopping and curating of items, and they would help with everything else. It has now been 14 years, and we have graduated X students.
What do you hope younger family members learn from your story?
Do what you are passionate about. Birds in Paradise has been a success because it was born out of something we loved doing. Also, we have gotten a lot of satisfaction from each and every student whose life we have impacted.
How can our family best support your business?
By shopping at every one of our popups🤪

Don’t be afraid to try different things. Something good will come to you.

Walk us through a slice of your routine.
First I have a cup of bone broth while watching BBC news. Then I try to do a few exercises and stretches . Then I shower, have a coffee , and start my day.
Share a challenge you've overcome.
My double knee replacement surgery was a big challenge, which I am still struggling to overcome.
